Descriptions of DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) have been reviewed by ‘an infinite mind’ to ensure that portrayal is correct.  Please note: some details across 'Feel the Fusion' may trigger.

Meet Cheeks, born in 1972 and grew up in a town in Yorkshire once known for its prosperous textile industry and studied at Leeds Art University depicting that ‘bunnies are idiots’, see below.

At the turn of the century, Cheeks went to New York with his band mates. Loving the art and sounds of the city, Cheeks spent time at MoMA and Guggenheim.  Engaging with street corner traders, purchasing his beloved roller boots, creating lyrics including that of the Howlin’ Badger, and it was here that Cheeks talent began to shine a light on alters, darkened by trauma, and resulted in lifelong complex relationships.

DWY! creates art, against the sound that the demonised Howlin’ Badger scratches. Highlighting - detachment, reflection, change, understanding, silence and living.

Believe’

IP: 6450233.

Fantastic, profound.

Fantasy phenomenon,

definitely not!

Blood seeps through, a symbol of powerful fiery love, able to instil humanity. Creating a culture that listens and is proud of achievements of self and others.  Believe is identity positive, promoting self-worth, helping humanity to confidently grow.

86% of people with DID who have a history of self-injury. Marks of pain can be seen underneath the lyrics on Believe.

Cheeks, lived, created and died as a result of DID and documented his marks of trauma through photos, as amnesia prevented understanding.  He would often hear the inner commentary of Mark E Smith, helping to distance Cheeks, not only from emotional pain, but also reality.

Stats Behind the Art

  • Quarter of a billion people have DID, making up 3% of the global population, only 50% are diagnosed.

  • Stigma associated with DID creates a significant gap in quantifiable indicators.

  • 70% of people with DID attempt suicide at least once = 175 million people.

  • Family and friends add to the global network of unsupported communities

Easter 2022, at the age of 49 DID took over. Cheeks love for characterisation had gone. No longer feeling that the world was safe, he took his life.  Cheeks was watched by neighbours and passers-by for a full 12 hours, on the 4 storey roof before he jumped. If action to call the Police had been taken earlier his suicide would have been prevented. Two months later in hospital, overlooking Castle Hill, Cheeks passed.

hen, larger than life.

Bold, confident, dominant,

Feel the cocks eye change.

A sight to behold, the DNA of the Black Shouldered Peahen’s sex chromosome was re-designed into the creation of the unique and vibrant colourful purple Peahen.

An optical phenomenon - emotions, sounds, smells and colours all create memories, which bring to life a unique DID alter.

Jackie’s Picasso’

Jackie breaks the rules.

Explores human condition.

Seeks deep connection.

Pablo’s relationship with societal norms, much like Cheeks was complex, even rule breaking, both using their art to critique establishments and explore the human condition, preferring to communicate by illustrating the streets anonymous.

Societies' issue with death, nudity and sex is primarily due to repressed fears, created by deeply ingrained cultural, religious and societal norms, associated with shame, sin and impropriety, often resulting in stigma.

DWY! is a place where the

Designer Worships You!

Through reflection, and visualisation,

brains learn to experience the joy of life

outside of societal norm

The soundtrack for Jackie

  • Encourages us to embrace our flaws, imperfections,

  • and seek deep meaningful connection.

  • Allowing us to gain awareness, clarity and

  • positive understanding of

  • not only ourselves but also each other.

Jackie, breaks the rules. Explores human condition. For deep connection.

‘Global Baller’s Soundtrack’

IP 6450197.

The Global Baller,

bounces back from marks of pain.

Removing stigma.

DWY! highlights how the brain copes with trauma, through the remarkable response of characterisation.

The Global Baller, symbolises the coping strategy used to bounce back from marks of pain and stigma, through visualisation, positive internal dialogue and community support.

DID affects individuals across the entire spectrum of demographics irrespective of ethnicity, disability, gender, religion, sexuality and socio-economic background.

Evasive thoughts are common with DID, the question of ‘what is wrong’, and the recurring cycle of seeking answers, results in scepticism. Supporting the belief that help is a luxury, not often found.

‘The Jewel Protector’

Vic, our hip hop Queen.

Shields, beloved Prince Albert’s,

in miracle lands.

Vic, our miracle hip hop Queen, loved music and used it to help with sleeplessness, headaches, psychosomatic pains and prolonged periods of withdrawal, just like Cheeks, who used music as a coping strategy, to deal with anxiety, disorientation, fear and intense emotion.

Cheeks constantly flooded the valleys of Castle Hill with his love for music, sharing it with everyone that would listen.  Soundtracks remain embedded across the DWY! brand, with each art piece created against its own selected by the Howlin’ Badger.

Cheeks, often lost himself in BAPE looking out to castle hill at midnight, a rollie in one hand and a pen in the other.  Sketching, helped to keep the eroding tale, of The Jewel Protector alive.  For individuals with DID, unpredictable routine and inconsistent sleep schedules impacts the brains' function - increasing dissociation and more frequent drifting between alters.
